Not MY Daddy!

Let's say you trust your dad.

Now let's say that your father gathered the whole family together to share some extremely important information. Once you are seated comfortably and are intently focused on what he needed to tell you, he told you that there was ongoing research being conducted to learn how to turn the sky a completely different color every 30 minutes and that our government was paying $8 million dollars to do facilitate that research, would you nod your head and accept it as fact?

Now let's say that he told you there are some states that are accepting children into their schools and turning them into chickens to send home to their families.

Now let's say he told you that some of the new neighbors have dug up your favorite rose bush and eaten it.

Now imagine he told you his boss is going to get rid of all cows.

Next he tells you that God loves him the most.

After that, he tells you that your friends are the most dangerous people surrounding you and they should be 'picked up'.

Oh, and that the idea that the moon affects the tide is a scam.

Further,  he tells you that the thug who vandalized your car did it as an act of love.

Finally, he states that after gathering information on the family's expenses, he has concrete evidence -  that may be flawed - that your jobs, your health care, your education, your security, your earned benefits, and your philanthropy are all waste and are being cut dramatically or eliminated.

So with all honesty, I would absolutely nod my head in agreement and thank him so much for enlightening me and freeing me from incredible burden of living my life under false pretenses.

Then I would call a psychiatric hospital for emergency admittance.  And then I know I would cry.

But you know what would really confound me?  If I had a sibling who then ran to my father, flung their arms around him and said "please tell me more!!"

He's not your dad, folks. You do not have to feel sad that he has lost his mind.  You don't need to feel guilt for calling him on it.  You do not have to try to make sense of why he says such scary and crazy things.  

And you absolutely mustn't ever give him "the benefit of the doubt".

If something sounds wrong - DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!  Its only democracy at stake.  We need to do something.
